Antigua and Barbuda make great Caribbean destinations if you're looking for fantastic beaches in a laid back setting. All-inclusive resorts set on picturesque stretches of sand ensure that you can spend your days relaxing in the sun... your tan your only worry. But if you're looking to slip away from the world in a quiet cove, if you want to hear nothing but the soothing rhythms of the water meeting the shore, the soft rustle of the wind in the palm trees... Antigua and Barbuda has many secretive recesses awaiting you.
If you really want to get away from it all, head to Barbuda, which is the decidedly quieter island. Barbuda's shoreline includes soft rose-hued sands interspersed amongst fine stretches of powdered-sugar white.
Antigua offers paradisaical deserted sands edged by spectacularly clear water, as well as some stretches lined with beach side bars and restaurants. The small handful of outstanding restaurants-- including the Gourmet-magazine-mentioned Le Bistro, which is easily a head above them all-- is a delightful surprise. Antigua also offers more nightlife options than Barbuda, including some exciting casinos and some spectacular steel bands. Though Antigua and Barbuda aren't overflowing with the history and culture of some other Caribbean islands, colorful and quaint St. John in Antigua is worth a stroll.
Imagine yourself strolling sugar white sands, reclining on glistening pink shores, taking a refreshing swim in stunningly clear waters. Imagine yourself enjoying exquisite and imaginative French cuisine. Imagine yourself grooving to the rhythms of a steel band, inhaling the sweet tropical night air. It doesn't have to be a fantasy-- come experience it in Antigua and Barbuda.
