Description: Originally built from 27-25BC under the Roman Empire as a temple for the seven dieties of the seven plantes in the state religion and designed by Apollodorus of Damascus, the pantheon, which means 'temple of the Gods' in Greek, has been a Christian church since the 7th century. In continuous use throughout history, it is considered the best preserved of all the Roman buildings.
