Caribbean

The Caribbean is the ultimate cruise destination. And it's no wonder. It's to the Caribbean where everyone wants to go on holiday, and where everyone wants to take a relaxing cruise.

While Hawaii has the awesome rainforests and perhaps the South Pacific has more beautiful coral reefs and atolls formed by ancient volcanos, it's the Caribbean where the brilliant sandy beaches are. It's the Caribbean where you will find a tropical paradise on every island that you stop at for a shore-excursion. It's quite simply paradise on earth, it's testament to that fact is the fact of just how many people visit the Caribbean on cruises every single year.

There are few cruise lines that are named after places but the fact that Royal Caribbean choose to actually include Caribbean in their name despite being a Norwegian company is further testament to the worldwide appeal of the Caribbean. There are hundreds of different ports that you can visit on your trip to the Caribbean. At the far north is of course the Bahamas. Then there's Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk. Much further south are places like Antiqua, Dominica, and Barbados.

On a trip to the Caribbean you'll find that every single cruise ship itinerary is different because there are just so many beautiful places for you to check out while on a cruise. Many cruise ships companies have actually set up port resorts at which their passengers can have fun, in safety, knowing that it's just other cruisers who are using the resort and not just some local hotel. Places like Half Moon Cay, which has a wonderful kids pool, great for children with a fear of the ocean, or for parents who want to be able to keep a close eye on their children. What many people forget is that Central America is on the Caribbean too.

Mexico and Costa Rica make excellent places for tourists to stop off. In Limon, Costa Rica there is an awesome tree-top adventure course, which is perfect for teenagers to enjoy. It is of course good for adults, but it's built really with teenagers in mind. The islands in the Caribbean support an incredible amount of very diverse ecosystems, making them one of Conservation International few biodiversity hotspots.

It is of course the wildlife that chance to swim with dolphin or snorkel with fish that draws so many people to the Caribbean.
