Weekend cruises are the perfect cruise for a lot of people. Some people simply do not have the time to take a cruise for a number of weeks, one that will take them to dozens of destinations. Also, most people cannot afford a cruise that will cost them many thousands of dollars, and will therefore of course choose weekend cruises over five-star luxury.

You want be smart if you're a first time cruisers to try weekend cruises first, to get a nice general idea about what cruising is like and what you really enjoy about it. Then, should you decide to go on a cruise for a little longer, or even if you choose to take a full world cruise, you'll be better prepared to know exactly what you want from a cruise and you won't make mistakes like choosing a better cabin than you really need, or taking a cruise to somewhere that you actually don't want to go. So for a taste of the cruising lifestyle, without having to make a massive initial investment in a long cruise that you might not enjoy, you should head on a number of weekend cruises. Then you won't take up valuable holiday time with an expensive cruise that you might not enjoy anyway.

On a weekend cruise you can either really go for it, eating a lot, drinking a lot more, partying every night, and generally really getting your money's worth. Or you can take advantage of just how relaxed the cruise is, and to the extent that you are completely provided for by the staff and crew on board. So rather than treating it like one big party, coming home feeling even more tired than when you left you can treat it like a mini-holiday. There's no doubt that after weekend cruises, Monday mornings seem a hell of a lot more manageable. That's the beauty of the weekend cruise. There's no messing around with flights to far off destinations just to get to your boat. There's no annoyingly long welcoming procedures, or safety demonstrations that absolutely everyone has to attend. There is no meet and greet. There is just you and your family or significant other enjoying some fun times together. Weekend cruises will be unlikely to take in any shore-excursions though, so ensure that you have brought things like books to digital music players in order to keep yourself occupied while on the cruise.
