What is Tripbase?
Tripbase is a travel website that gives you unbiased recommendations about where to go and what to do on your next trip based on the things you like. Tripbase provides the information you need about destinations in order to plan your trip - from the best deals on car rentals, flights, hotels and packages across a wide range of websites to information about weather, costs, and tourists seasons. You'll also find great travel guides, user ratings, descriptions, pictures, maps, articles, and up-to-date, personalized recommendations about where to eat, what to see and do while you're there, and the best places to stay.
How do I use it?
Fly or Drive?
Select either "Fly" or "Drive" to indicate whether you prefer to travel via plane or car. Use "Fly" to get average flight costs and hot flight deals on your results page. Use "Drive" to get matching destinations within your driving radius and even an estimate on the driving time and fuel costs.
Destination Finder:
To use the destination finder, either use your mouse to move the green sliders up or down or simply click on the gray square where you want the slider to end. The sliders tell us how important each of the criteria are for you. The further to the right that you position the green slider, the more important it is to you on your trip. If you put the nature slider to the far right and the shopping slider to the far left, for example, Tripbase will generate personalized recommendations that focus on destinations with great nature. For best results, use the sliders to tell us what is most important to you.
Destination Search:
To search for information about a specific destination, just enter the name of the place into the search box and then explore a wealth of information - from flights, hotels, car rentals and package deals across a wide range of top travel search engines to the best-rated hotels, things to see and do, restaurants, travel guides, pictures, descriptions, weather and articles.
Find My Destination
This button enters your input into the system. After a few seconds, a number of chosen destinations will appear on the right side of the screen. Click on the 'More Information' button to see today's top deals in that location and expected weather conditions. The 'More Info' button takes you to the location page, where you'll get flight, hotel, car rental and package deals across a wide range of travel search engines so you can compare rates. You'll also find personalized recommendations about what to see and do, where to stay and eat based on the things you like and much more.
What is 'Auto Submit?'
If this box is checked, the system will automatically give you personalized results after every change you make in the destination finder. If you uncheck it, the system will only give you results after you enter all of your information and click 'Find My Destination'
What is 'Save Search'?
Save search allows you to save your current parameters to perform the same search later or keep your results for trip planning. You need to either sign in or register in order to save your searches. It's free to become a Tripbase member and use the website.
What is 'hide popular destinations?'
Checking this box will bring up less well-known destinations that match your personal travel preferences. It's a great way to discover new places.
What is map view?
If you click on 'map view' at the top of the recommended destinations, you'll be able to see the recommended destinations on a map. You can zoom in or out to get more details and see the destination information in a pop-up. It's a really cool feature. Try it out.
What is list view?
List view shows you the destinations that Tripbase recommends for you in a list format.
Dates and Duration
To enter the start date of your trip, just click on the calendar to the right and then fill in the number of days you'll be traveling. These dates are automatically entered in a box where you can search for flights, hotels and car rental deals you perform later.
Departure City
Just enter the first words of your departure city and our system will fill in the appropriate airport code. This information is then automatically entered into flight, hotel and car rental searches you perform later.
Budget & Type
Enter both the amount you wish to spend (including flights, hotels, car rentals and entertainment) for the duration of your trip as well as the type of budget you are on (budget, moderate or luxury). Tripbase will then automatically recommend destinations, things to do and places to stay based on the amount you want to spend as well as the type of trip you want. If you're on a luxury trip, our system will give you the highest rated top-end hotels and adjust the estimated costs per day.
Weather & Tourist Season
Use the drop-down box to tell us what temperature you want on your trip. You can choose Fahrenheit or Celsius in the box to the right. Tripbase will then give you destinations in the world that match your preferred temperatures during your vacation dates.Just check the circle that applies to you - any, high or low. Remember that high tourist season usually corresponds to higher prices and bigger crowds while low tourist season does not necessarily mean bad weather.
Continents
Just check the continents you want to include in the results.
Travel Guide / Location Page
Once Tripbase recommends personalized vacation destinations for you based on the things you like, your travel dates, departure city and budget, you can explore a wealth of other information about each destination, including popular activities and top-rated attractions in that destination, top hotels, weather, average costs, why that destination is a good one for you, travel articles and photos. On this page, you can compare rates on flights, hotels and car rentals in that destination and then book them, change your personalized preferences, save this destination for later or explore other recommended destinations.Destination Search Tips
