A teenage girl is held in prison after being arrested for suspected adultery with a man in his mid-20s.

A fourteen year old girl has been detained in the United Arab Emirates based on charges of adultery.

The minor, who is due to attend court next month, was arrested by Ajman Police after casually meeting her boyfriend on the roof of her family home.

While the law states that the minimum age of suspects in sex-related crimes must be the age of 15, this is just one example of a specialist case considering the teenager as a suspect rather than a victim.

The teenager has since held in police custody and forced to undergo a gynaecological examination which has confirmed that she is still a virgin.

The child has been held in an adult prison with other women, with her bail being refused. She has also undergone solitary confinement for three days.

The male involved in the case has also been arrested and is believed to be in his mid 20s.

Her father has been reported to be deeply upset at the arrest of his daughter stating that “she is only 14”.

It is believed that the teenager had a complaint against her, her father said of the man in question, “he is around 25 years old and used to follow my daughter wherever she went”.

A local Lawyer Abdul Hamid Al Kumaiti has agreed to defend the girl free of charge, based upon the financial state of her family.

Reported by Claire Blackthorne.
