Teen YouTube sensation Rebecca Black is being watched by authorities following fearful death threats.

YouTube singing sensation is under police protection after receiving two terrifying death threats, it has been revealed.

The “Friday” singer who leapt to fame following her YouTube hit which has been seen by hundreds of millions of people worldwide feared for her life after receiving death threats through e-mail and over the phone to her management company.

The threats, made in March were related to the music video uploaded on the video sharing site, demanding the removal of the video from the internet otherwise they would kill her, spokesperson for the Anaheim California Police, Rick Martinez told the media.

Police are taking the threats very seriously; keeping a watchful eye on the 13 year old dubbed “the worst singer in the world”.

The teen isn’t a stranger to criticism, after attracting it since her video was uploaded in February 2011. She spoke of the hurtful words she received including being told “I hope you cut yourself and I hope you get an eating disorder so you look pretty, and I hope you go cut and die”.

Despite buckling under the criticism of the world, Black sang the US National Anthem to prove her singing abilities to the world.

While the criticism has been hard to take, the $2,000 music video paid for by her mother has earned Black $20,000 through YouTube plus thousands more in iTunes sales.
