The Tripbase Awards 2011

Our Scottish category of the Tripbase Awards flaunts everything that the country has to offer. The panel of experienced experts spent hours finding the blogs which informed the user about every aspect of Scotland. We paid particular attention to those blogs written by residents and those conscious of the tourist's needs.

In this section we celebrate an oft overlooked holiday destination. There are many reasons to visit Scotland, not just limited to the phenomenal culture and unique history which is outlined in the award winning blogs you see at the bottom of this page. Driving to Scotland - especially if your car uses an environmentally friendly fuel - releases less carbon into the atmosphere than flying to almost anywhere. Scotland boasts an array of ‘green' or environmentally friendly hotels and hostelries, often near to carbon neutral eateries and pubs. And of course with Scotland's fine culinary tradition, you don't need to worry about food miles.

We've selected these blogs out of the thousands there are on the subject of Scotland for their admirable dedication to visitor information. We've given particular preference to the blogs which make for entertaining, interesting reading, but we've also rewarded blogs which are well designed and present other useful information.

Whether you're planning a six week survival camp with friends, a family holiday in a B&B in Inverness, a seal-spotting excursion off Dunnet Head or if you just want to have a look at the weather in Edinburgh, we've found the best blogs which will let you do that before you leave.
